We are thrilled you’ve decided to join us for an Empowered to Connect Parent Training Course!
Please pay close attention to the following details.
CONNECT COURSE (parents who are currently parenting):
Will be held virtually via Zoom Sundays 3:30-5:30 pm
September 19, 26, October 17, 24, November 7, 14, 21, & December 5
On Attendance:
Please keep in mind that we do require that married couples attend the training together, and we ask that all participants commit to attend the entire training. Singles are welcome, but we ask that they make an effort to identify someone from their support team (i.e., a parent, friend, etc.) and encourage them to attend and learn with them. We understand that from time to time, unforeseen circumstances will require a parent to miss a class, but we ask that you make every possible effort to attend all of the classes as the material is designed to build on itself and therefore an understanding of all the material is critically important. The ETC Parent Training Course classes are filled first come, first serve and have a limited enrollment due to course material and class participation.
Zoom Expectations: This Zoom course will be taught similarly to our in person course–it will include times of teaching from our course trainers as well as times of interaction with participants through the chat box and breakout rooms. Please make arrangements to keep your video on and give the course the priority of your attention whenever possible (just as you would for an in person class). Whenever possible, please plan to be in a stationary location vs on a mobile device.
On Preparation and Homework:
Before the class begins, we request that you purchase and read Dr Karyn Purvis’s The Connected Child. This is the pinnacle evidence-based work from which the Empowered to Connect and TBRI material was developed. Throughout the course, we will provide additional resources that you will use for study via weekly emails. Please make plans to print the lessons and homework out prior to the start of class each week.
In addition, we want to make you aware that there will be weekly homework assignments that you will be required to complete. These homework assignments are critically important aspects of the overall training and learning process. We are fully aware that these requirements make the ETC Parent Training a very significant commitment on your part, but we believe you will agree that the commitment and investment required will be completely worth it in the end.
On Cost:
$20 per couple paid to MFCC. You can pay via credit card at the time of registration or bring a check to MFCC.
Cost of the supplemental books you will need to complete your course work/home work will vary based on where you choose to order. Please order your books prior to the class starting. Each book is listed below.
In the interest of time and reducing the cost of the class, we will be providing the notes to participants each week in a digital format. These notes can be printed to use as a hard copy or used digitally on a laptop or tablet.
Please note: we usually charge more for the course and order and distribute one full set of books per family on the first night of class. With the current Covid-19 situation requiring us to hold class virtually, we are asking all participants to print the course notes and handouts and order the following books on your own. We have reduced the cost of the course to $20 to allow for the personal expense of the books and printing costs. Please do not opt out of buying these materials or printing the weekly course handouts and notes. They strongly undergird the course content.
The Connected Child by Dr. Karyn Purvis
Anatomy of The Soul by Dr. Curt Thompson
The Out of Sync Child by Carol Kranowitz
The Whole Brain Child by Dr. Dan Siegel
Nurturing Adoptions by Deborah Gray
There is no cost for the support member of a single parent to attend.
If you simply cannot afford the fee for the training, please let us know, as a limited amount of financial assistance is available.
