Our Story
Memphis Family Connection Center is rooted in a deep legacy of supporting families across the mid-south.
At our start, MFCC was founded on two pillars of care: community based support and clinical services. Both with the goal of offering trauma-informed, healing-centered intervention for adoptive and foster families.
In 2018, the ownership, intellectual property, and program rights of Empowered to Connect (ETC) were transferred to the care and leadership of MFCC with the intent of MFCC providing support for ETC’s continued impact as well as building capacity for growth.
In 2021, seeing the expansion of ETC’s work globally, the board of directors and executive leadership restructured the organization, making Empowered to Connect the top organization and placing MFCC as one of its many programs.
For almost a decade we provided integrated clinical services; completing over 39,000 therapeutic appointments to over 4,300 children and families. In June 2025, we transitioned away from offering in-house clinical services – including counseling, expressive art therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. This decision was not made lightly. It was a result of deep reflection, changing needs, and a desire to focus our resources where they can have an ongoing impact.
Our mission carries on through our original pillar of community based support services.
We continue to serve the mid-south through:
- Parenting classes and coaching
- Organizational training and consultation
- A Clinical Care Network of trusted providers
- Empowerment Fund scholarships for mental health services for adoptive and foster families
- The expansion of Red Tub Day and community support efforts
The primary heart and mission of MFCC remains the same: providing support for families, caregivers, and organizations journeying toward greater hope and healing.
